Grand Seiko Hi-Beat Diver's SBGH289 & SBGH291
Grand Seiko introduces two new Hi-Beat diver’s watches perfect for both land and sea.

The SBGH289 and SBGH291 are the newest additions to the Sport Collection featuring Grand Seiko’s Hi-Beat 36,000 movement, with an accuracy rating of +5 to -3 seconds per day and a power reserve of 55 hours. The high specifications of these new timepieces are in accordance with the latest strict international ISO 6425 diver’s watch requirements for quality and clear visibility.

Dive In, Grand Seiko Style

Water-resistant to a depth of 200 metres, both feature LumiBrite for high visibility underwater and in less well-lit situations. Each hand is different, to ensure that the time can be read easily and without error and the triangular marker at twelve o’clock ensures that, even at depth, viewing the time is simple and clear.

Every component is built to last, but all divers know that their watch needs regular maintenance, just like every other device upon which their life may depend. Designed for use in some of the most unforgiving environments, the rotating bezel is removable for simple maintenance, while the area around the crown has been crafted to ensure that residue can be easily washed off.

Grand Seiko SBGH289 features a stainless steel case and a blue dial.
Grand Seiko SBGH291 features a high-intensity titanium case and a black dial with a gold-tone logo.

Hi-Beat: Challenge Accepted

Both models are powered by the Hi-Beat 9S85 Mechanical movement- the result of many years of development and of advances both in the design and manufacture of components and in the materials themselves.

The challenge of a high-beat movement is one that only few watchmakers choose to accept. With a higher oscillation rate of ten beats per second, greater accuracy is achievable, but this increased precision can come at a price and take its toll on the power reserve of the movement. However, our 10-beat Calibre 9S85 meets these challenges by adopting sophisticated watchmaking innovation, through a precision-controlling mainspring, hairspring and the escapement which together showcase the power and dynamism of the Hi-Beat 36,000 and deliver an accuracy of +5 to –3 seconds a day with a power reserve of 55 hours.

With a mirror-finished case achieved through Zaratsu polishing, a lustrous rotating bezel, and multi-faceted cut indices, these timepieces are unmistakably Grand Seiko in its appearance, high specifications and durability.
